Sadiq Khan's Plans

The Mayor of London has released his plans for "overhauling the capital's streets" As usual he does not seem to have consulted the most vulnerable groups in our society or to have learned any lessons from previous interventions.

While giving more space to pedestrians and queuers outside shops is obviously welcome, this in many cases is just restoring some of the pavement space that has been taken away to create cycling infrastructure in recent years.

However encouraging more cycling is not going to help with social distancing during the current crisis. Not only are cyclists frequently close to / overtaking each other but they endanger nearby pedestrians too should they be infected with the virus and not yet know it.
