Comment in Guardian on Eastman Army Camp closure article

"It really amazes me how the council and Clyde Loakes continue to lie to people. The council say they do "extensive consultation" with business and residents and everyone that knows a business owner knows this is a complete lie. Consultation and the concerns were mostly ignored and even with the fiddling of statistics to make it look like residents were actually in favour of mini holland and the road calming schemes when it was not to achieve their agenda The 13 percent figure is posted mini holland and post parking restrictions and everyone knows the figure was much much higher pre mini holland and pre-parking restrictions - and with over 200 businesses signing - everyone knew that businesses would suffer because of this disastrous project - and it was true This is the age of the electric car and as mentioned mini holland was and is a completely unnecessary project which has caused massively increased pollutions with extra jams along the main roads, causing traffic to drive slower - adding even more pollution, closing short cut roads making journey times longer making even more pollution, adding unnecessary speed humps where there were no significant accidents again adding more pollution and reducing the speeds from 30 to 20 which emits more pollution too - as well as the detrimental effects on businesses, emergency response and attendance, disability access problems Electric cars and vans are the solutions - and with advice being given to remove speed humps to help clean up the air - which the mini holland vested interested groups also lied about claiming speed humps to not add to pollution levels - its very clear to the majority of the public that these road modifications have done so much damage and caused so many problems for the majority. With the electric cars and vans, this mini holland monstrosity can and should be removed along with the parking restrictions - along with the "council campaign groups" and then small and medium businesses would boom"
